Participants will be introduced to many great composers (both male and female) who have lived throughout the ages. They will explore the composers’ lives, challenges, triumphs, and most importantly, their incredible music! Directed listening activities will help participants better appreciate and explore what makes their music so great.
This class will focus on the famous composer Camille Saint-Saens and his work entitled Carnival of the Animals. Children will learn about Saint-Saens life, the different instrument families and how they are used in his compositions. They will learn about each animal portrayed and decide for themselves if Saint-Saens captured the animal’s true characteristics through music.
