Sing Me A Story is an important addition to any elementary literacy program. Developed by a music specialist and elementary teacher, the stories presented in this series are all sung or chanted rhythmically with a strong emphasis on vocal play (an important singing skill). Story concepts also include reading comprehension, language development, cause and effect, sequencing, prediction, and cognitive reasoning.
This in-person class is different from online as it includes singing instruction, puppets, acting, hands-on activities, and fun peer interactions for young participants.
Over 100 stories are included in loose monthly themes. Indexes are provided for the purpose of increasing your own personal library. Extension ideas are provided for each story to integrate into other areas of education. Some stories will be familiar, others will be new and exciting! Though everyone can enjoy a good story, these classes will be best appreciated by children 8 years and younger.

Supplemental music and educational activities will be provided for you and your students to do at home that will accompany the stories, poems, and rhymes. Supplemental activities will include art and craft ideas, writing prompts, introduction to art music which include the stories, history behind certain singing songs, and more.
Materials will be available from the first to the last day of each month.
All Sing Me A Story participants will be given a monthly calendar of special events, as well as a list of all singing story books included that month. It is my hope that you will be able to add your favorite stories from class to your own home library.
